About the Vale Clinic

The Vale Clinic is located in the village of Hickling and is easily reached from Melton Mowbray, only a 10-15 minutes car ride away.

A careful assessment will be made, and treatment started, at your first appointment. Treatment may include electrotherapy modalities such as ultrasound, laser, and interferential therapy. Hands on techniques are employed, and massage and mobilisations are used, as indicated. It is usual for each patient to be handed a tailor made, printed exercise programme, which can also be emailed to you for ease of access.

All of the physiotherapists at The Vale Clinic have a great deal of experience in the treatment of sports injuries, and they all compete in various sports themselves. Kate Van Doorn specialises in the restoration of normal movement with relation to sports performance. She is a keen rider, and understands the injuries which can be sustained associated with riding.

The Vale Clinic offers a screening assessment for those of you planning to take up a new sport, and we are happy to carry out a full assessment to identify any faulty movement patterns and to develop a personalised exercise programme to reduce the risk of injuring yourself when you start the new activity.

We regularly treat joint sprains, muscle and ligament strains, joint stiffness and many common injuries such as tennis elbow, golfers elbow, sprained ankles, Achilles tendon and knee injuries, which are often sustained whilst engaging in football, rugby and skiing in particular. All types of sports injuries are treated at The Vale Clinic. We also assist patients in rehabilitation post-operatively eg after such operations as meniscectomy, cruciate ligament repairs and arthroscopies.

We appreciate, and fully understand, just how important it is to be able to return to your sport as quickly as possible. We work together with you, to ensure that you understand fully how the injury occurred, how it is to be treated and how you can help to prevent recurrences when returning to your sport.
